Your kids are crazy about virtual reality technology in the consumer gaming space. But did you know that virtual reality headsets and related technology are being used for facilities planning, development and renovation to save millions in up-front costs?
Virtual reality prototyping is a hot trend in construction and real estate. Next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. EST I’ll be interviewing a leader in this field. Taylor Cupp, an architect and lead technologist for M.A. Mortenson Co., a national real estate and development firm.
Mortenson routinely deploys VR technology to garner feedback from the end-users of facilities, whether they are manufacturing workers; doctors, nurses and patients; or retail consumers. The practice avoids costly mistakes and ensures that every new or renovated space is set up for maximum productivity.
We’ll discuss specific case studies, such as how the Atlanta Braves saved $1.7 million in costs at SunTrust Park.
Issues we’ll explore include:
- Types of VR technology being used;
- Upfront costs:
- Typical savings;
- How to build engagement with a range of end users;
- Typical process and time frame.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions both in advance of, and during, the webinar. Email your questions to Kristen Romeo, manager, meetings and education, with ACG Global at kromeo@acg.org
Please join me next week for what promises to be an interesting discussion.
