ACG Global welcomed five new members to its board of directors on Sept. 1, the start of ACG’s 2020 fiscal year.
To get to know them, Middle Market Growth asked each new member about their experience with ACG and their priorities for their tenure on the board, as well as how they spend their time outside of work and a personal fact their colleagues might not yet know about them. (One new board member revealed that he was an extra in a hit 1980s teen comedy film.)
Below is an introduction to the five new members of the ACG Global board.
CHRISTINA BUI, CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER, KRANZ & ASSOCIATES
Local Chapter: ACG San Francisco
A member of ACG San Francisco since 2008, Christina Bui has served on the chapter’s board of directors for over 11 years. She is a past president of ACG San Francisco and initiated its Technology Exchange Series and Corporate Development Officers Roundtable, which she currently co-chairs. She has also co-chaired the chapter’s Programs Committee for over three years and the M&A West Coast Conference for over seven years.
As a member of the ACG Global board, Bui is committed to helping ACG uphold its high ethical standards and operate transparently in a way that positions the association as a leader in the industry.
Outside of work at Kranz & Associates, Bui serves on the boards of ACG San Francisco, How Women Lead, Asian Pacific Fund, and a startup called Siembra. Bui balances family life with three kids and a Labradoodle with swimming, skiing, Zumba and Barre fitness.
PAUL GAUTIER, MANAGING DIRECTOR, CARY STREET PARTNERS LLC
Local Chapter: ACG Central Texas
Paul Gautier joined ACG Central Texas in 2006 and has since served in various roles within the chapter, including president, board member, Awards Committee chair, and co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee for the Texas ACG Capital Connection, among others.
“Leading our chapter and state in ACG are the most rewarding efforts I have put forth in any business association,” Gautier says.
As an incoming member of the Global board, he plans to help ACG enhance its brand value and further increase its relevance among key stakeholders—members, sponsors, business and government leaders, and policymakers.
In addition to leading business development at Cary Street Partners and volunteering with ACG, Gautier and his wife live missionally at Community First! Village, a 51-acre master planned community where 80% of residents have been chronically homeless. “By day I’m at the office and by night I’m being a good neighbor alongside some wonderful, yet fragile, people,” he says. “I’m humbled to get to serve in this way.”
STEVE MOON, MANAGING DIRECTOR, DUFF & PHELPS SECURITIES
Local Chapter: ACG Los Angeles
Steve Moon is the past president of ACG Los Angeles (2016-2018), and has served on the board since 2009. He serves on the chapter’s executive committee and chapter-level committees focused on private equity and corporate executives. Moon previously served as the head of the chapter’s Private Equity Roundtable.
His goals as an ACG Global board member include building stronger connections among various chapters and sharing best practices, as well as bringing new innovative programs and ideas that have been explored and implemented at the chapter level to the broader global organization.
Outside for work, Moon enjoys playing and coaching sports with his two kids and watching his beloved Los Angeles sports teams in action.
ELLEN G. PURDY, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, CONNEXIN SOFTWARE
Local Chapter: ACG Philadelphia
Ellen Purdy joined ACG Philadelphia in 2004 and has since served on the chapter’s board of directors and the Marketing Committee, Strategic Acquirers Committee, ACG University Committee—where she served as founding year co-chair—and the Private Equity Executive Roundtable (PEER) Steering Committee.
Over her 15 years as an ACG member, Purdy has served as CFO of five private equity-backed companies. As an ACG Global board member, she brings a valuable perspective as the association seeks to grow membership among corporate executives. She will also draw on her experience with ACG University and PEER to help advance ACG Global’s offerings for members worldwide.
Outside of work, Purdy loves spending time with her husband, son and friends at their shore house in Sea Isle City, New Jersey, and golfing and attending rock concerts. She also loves watching football and is an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
CURT TATHAM, MANAGING DIRECTOR, LINCOLN INTERNATIONAL
Local Chapter: ACG New York
Curt Tatham has been a member of ACG New York since 2005 and has served as a chapter board member and co-head of ACG New York’s Private Equity/Investment Banking Committee.
Tatham has almost 30 years of experience as a lender and investment banker. As Lincoln International’s co-head of financial sponsor coverage, he interacts daily with professionals across ACG’s ecosystem. Through those relationships, he brings a holistic perspective to the ACG Global board about how ACG can deliver value to all segments of its membership, both in the U.S. and globally.
Outside of work, Tatham enjoys golf, travel and spending time with family. A fun fact regarding Tatham is that he appeared as an extra in scenes of “Ferris Buehler’s Day Off” during his senior year of high school.
