Private equity firms, investment banks, law firms and others announce new hires and promotions

Alvarez & Marsal: John Fiorentino

Alvarez & Marsal, a global professional services firm, has announced the appointment of John Fiorentino as its newest managing director, a press release provided to Middle Market Growth said. Fiorentino supports the firm’s procurement and sourcing offering for private equity clients and their portfolio companies, joining its Private Equity Performance Improvement group. The addition of Fiorentino also expands Alvarez & Marsal’s Procurement and Sourcing group. He brings more than 25 years of consulting and industrial experience to the firm, with a specialization in supporting PE firms and their management teams with procurement strategy.

HCI Equity Partners: Nate Novak and Michael Allen

HCI Equity Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm focused on the service, distribution and manufacturing space, announced two promotions this month.

Nate Novak has been promoted to managing director. He joined the firm in 2014 and leads HCI’s investments in Tech24 and LawnPRO Partners. Additionally, Novak has supported the firm’s thesis development and M&A consolidation best practices initiatives.

HCI also announced the promotion of Michael Allen to vice president. Allen joined HCI in 2021 and leads the evaluation, execution and monitoring of current and prospective investments. He is currently an active member on the deal team for portfolio investments in ACR and Highland Commercial Roofing, the firm’s announcement noted.

Godspeed Capital Management: Tom Rutherford

Tom Rutherford has joined lower middle-market private equity firm Godspeed Capital Management, joining as chief financial officer, an announcement provided to Middle Market Growth said. Rutherford joins Godspeed from Camden Partners, an enterprise software growth equity firm, where he served as CFO and chief compliance officer. At the firm he will support portfolio companies o accounting, tax and financing matters, the announcement noted.

Shadi Yakoup
The DAK Group: Shadi Yakoup

The DAK Group, an investment bank specializing in middle-market M&A and business succession, announced the addition of Shadi Yakoup to the firm as an analyst. Yakoup joins The DAK Group’s Deal Team, bringing his experience in financial analysis and modeling to the firm’s business owner clients in support of the transaction process and deal analytics. Yakoup comes onto The DAK Group’s team from JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he was a corporate and investment banking fellow.

MidOcean Partners: Jon Fox

Jon Fox is joining alternative asset manager MidOcean Partners, which specializes in middle-market private equity, structured capital and alternative credit announcements. Fox comes onto the MidOcean team as global head of capital formation, a press release said this month, where he brings several decades of experience in alternative asset management. In the role Fox will enhance MidOcean’s global investor relationships. He most recently served as president of alternative investment firm Värde, where he was for over a decade.

Carter Fields, Thomas Bullock and Doyle Silvia
Kian Capital Partners: Carter Fields, Thomas Bullock and Doyle Silvia

Lower middle-market private investment firm Kian Capital Partners announced the promotions of Carter Fields, Thomas Bullock and Doyle Silvia in a press release. This month. Field has been promoted to vice president. He joined the firm as an associate in 2019 from Wells Fargo Securities as an analyst in its Industrial Coverage group. As vice president, Carter will lead diligence streams and take on a more active role in Kian’s investment process.

Bullock and Silvia, meanwhile, were promoted to senior associates. They both joined Kian in 2022 as associates, Bullock joining from his previous role in franchise development at Driven Brands, and Silvia joining from VRA Partners where he served as an analyst. As senior associates, Bullock and Silvia will hold greater responsibility in deal evaluation and partner with portfolio company management teams.

Emerald Lake Capital Management: Stephen Burhenn, Derrick Lee and Katie Slodzinski

Emerald Lake Capital Management, a middle-market private equity firm focused on the industrials and services sectors, announced three new hires this month. Stephen Burhenn joins the firm from Ares Management, Derrick Lee joins from Cinven and Katie Slodzinski joins from Goldman Sachs. In a statement, Emerald Lake Managing Partner Dan Lukas said the three new hires “represent an exciting expansion of Emerald Lake’s investment team as we look to build our strong momentum and continue growing the firm as a differentiated player in middle-market investing.”

Massumi + Consoli: Joyce Cowan

Law firm Massumi + Consoli, which specializes in private equity and M&A, announced the addition of Joyce Cowan as a partner. Cowan will support expansion of the firm’s private equity healthcare capabilities, according to a press release. Cowan brings decades of experience in healthcare law to Massumi + Consoli, and will bolster counsel to private equity sponsors investing in the healthcare sector.

Ted Sisko
ATL Partners: Ted Sisko

ATL Partners, a private equity firm focused on aerospace, transportation and logistics, announced investment and operations professional Ted Sisko has joined the firm’s executive board as Leader for Value Creation. Sisko enters the new role to coordinate and drive value creation initiatives within portfolio companies alongside investment professionals and operating executives. He brings more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions at private equity and management consulting firms, as well as expertise in the aerospace, transportation and logistics spaces.

Vector Capital: Amish Mehta

Technology and software investor Amish Mehta has been named Managing Director and Investment Committee member of Vector Capital, a technology-focused private equity firm based in San Francisco. This is a reunion for Mehta and Vector Capital, as Mehta previously served for 12 years at the firm, during which time he helped lead several transactions. His experience in technology and software also stems from his roles at General Atlantic Partners, as CEO of CommercialWare, and others.
