Perkins, a partner with the Detroit-based private equity firm, originated the majority of transactions Huron Capital closed in 2014, despite increased competition within the private equity asset class. Perkins’ coverage of the lower middle market contributed strongly to the firm’s 22 acquisitions last year.
As she told Mergers & Acquisitions in its April issue, “It’s all about finding ways to do deals, not finding easy ways to turn them down.”
Perkins is the first woman to be named Dealmaker of the Year, illustrating the increasing prominence of women in middle-market private equity.
In addition to her position at Huron Capital, Perkins is an active leader within the Association for Corporate Growth. She serves as co-chair of ACG’s Public Policy Committee and as a director at large for ACG Global’s board of directors. She is also a member of the ACG Detroit chapter.
The Dealmaker of the Year Award is part of Mergers & Acquisitions’ 8th Annual 2014 M&A Mid-Market Awards. The recent issue profiled the winners in eight categories.
