Use of Personal Information. ACG collects personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address, telephone number and, in some instances, credit card information (collectively, “Personal Information”). The primary purpose of collecting Personal Information is to:
- Operate the ACG website and deliver the services you have requested, including processing of membership and event registration payments;
- Inform you of other products or services available from ACG or from external business partners with whom ACG has established a business relationship; and
- Solicit your participation in research surveys conducted by or under the auspices of ACG analyzing the current business environment or potential new services that may be offered.
In some cases, your Personal Information may be shared with trusted third parties whom we have engaged to help us send you email or postal mail, perform statistical analysis or provide member support services. Such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your Personal Information. ACG does not sell, rent or lease its membership lists to third parties.
Data Security. ACG maintains your Personal Information in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When your Personal Information is transmitted to or by ACG over the Internet, ACG uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or similar technology to encrypt the information. This means that no one else can read it while it is being transmitted over the Internet.
Record of Website Visits. To help ensure a high-quality user experience, ACG records which pages our members visit within the ACG website. We collect this information for the sole purpose of analyzing how individuals use our website, determining which ACG services are the most popular, and learning how to improve the user experience.
The ACG website uses “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page–a convenience feature designed to save you time. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the ACG website.
The ACG website may from time to time have banners or links from our advertisers that redirect you to a third party website. Any transactions that occur between you and a third party are strictly between you and the third party and are not the responsibility of ACG. ACG does not control, and assumes no responsibility for, the privacy policies of third parties whose websites are linked to the ACG website.
No Absolute Safeguards
Although ACG will use reasonable efforts to safeguard the privacy of your Personal Information, transmissions over the Internet cannot be made absolutely secure. Accordingly, ACG assumes no responsibility or liability for disclosure of any or your Personal Information due to errors in transmission, unauthorized third-party access or other causes beyond ACG’s reasonable control.
For Residents of the European Union
The information collected by ACG or posted or uploaded by the members of ACG or its chapters may constitute “personal data” under the terms of the European Union Data Privacy Directive and the laws of the EU’s member states (collectively, “EU Law”). ACG may “process” your personal data, as that term is understood under EU Law, and may transfer your personal data to countries that are not considered by the European Union and/or its member states to maintain adequate levels of protection for personal data. Transfers of data may be made to other members of ACG, as well as to trusted third parties that ACG has engaged to help us send you email or postal mail, perform statistical analysis or provide member support services. By registering for the website and continuing to access it, you explicitly and unambiguously agree that (i) ACG may process and transfer your personal data as described above, and (ii) your personal data includes any additional information that you post or upload to the ACG website or the website of its chapters.
